edie launches brand new Sustainability Skills Workshop

The sustainability leaders of tomorrow will be able to enhance their existing skills and develop new ones thanks to a brand new edie workshop being launched next year.

The inaugural edie Sustainability Skills Workshop will take place in London on 26 January 2016; offering an interactive day of practical sessions designed to actively enhance the skills required to take the next steps in sustainability careers.

edie content director Will Parsons said: “In a dynamic sector like sustainability, acquiring and honing the right skills and competencies for an ever-changing role is a continuous process. Sustainability managers need a complex set of both hard and soft skills in order to ensure they are on top their game and to effect the change needed in their organisations.

“Crucially, sustainability professionals need finely-tuned management abilities such as influence, persuasion and engagement to bring together the diverse stakeholders they deal with on a daily basis. edie carried out a comprehensive piece of research with more than 1,500 users to find out what they wanted and, when it came to skills, the results were clear: you need help in engaging; help in changing behaviours, help in influencing the board and other stakeholder groups and help in building the business case.

“So, this inaugural Sustainability Skills Workshop has been engineered to address those exact needs; mixing practical hands-on workshops with leadership seminars to help participants acquire, embed and utilise the skills they need to take the next step in their careers.”
