COP24 Covered: Days 9-10 – net-zero industry clusters and ‘Swiss cheese’ strategies

As hundreds of world leaders, policymakers and climate experts meet in Poland to discuss how best to address some of the world’s most pressing climate challenges, edie last week launched a new series of podcast episodes which will round-up all of the key developments and major announcements for businesses, in under 13 minutes.

This series of quick-fire podcast episodes serves to brief readers on the latest announcements and updates every two days throughout the two-week event, which concludes on 14 December.

The first two days of the event were summarised by edie’s reporter Sarah George, and can be listened to here, while content editor Matt Mace rounded up all the key happenings of days three and four. 

It was back over to Sarah for days five and six, with the third episode including an exclusive interview with Mars’s climate and land manager. That podcast can be listened to in full here. 

Sarah then rounded up the key happenings of days seven and eight for us yesterday (12 December), in a segment discussing green buildings and climate activism led by young people.

Today’s (13 December) episode covers progress – or a lack thereof – on finalising the “rulebook” for the Paris Agreement, as well as the UK Government’s latest plans to decarbonise heavy industry.

It also features an exclusive interview with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability leadership’s senior program manager, Ursula Woodburn, as the organisation launches its #StepUpNow campaign. Unveiled today, the campaign aims to spur nations, cities and businesses to set more ambitious emissions targets and aim for carbon neutrality by 2030.
