“I am delighted to speak at edie Live this year,” Siegle said. “I can’t remember a time when environmental policy and politics was more charged, available and more pertinent to the mainstream audience. The science is clear, the will is almost clear and the question now is whether policymakers and government systems are up to the challenge.”

Siegle is an authority on the environmental and social footprint of the global fashion industry through her book To Die For: Is Fashion Wearing out the World and as producer of Netflix documentary The True Cost. Over 14 years, Siegle honed her expertise as the Observer and Guardian’s ‘eco agony aunt’. She has become well-known on British TV for bringing the problem of single use plastic to widespread attention, resulting in her latest book, titled Turning the Tide on Plastic.

Siegle completes a list of almost 200 speakers from a range of organisations – including Rolls Royce, Hilton, BEIS, National Trust and Sir Robert McAlpine – who will be appearing at edie Live 2019 to offer their insight and advice on turning sustainability and ambitions into actions. These speakers will appear across dedicated Circular Economy, Energy, Innovation and Keynote Theatres over the two days.

FUTURE SYSTEMS HACKATHON – A brand-new, live, 24-hour hackathon will unite edie’s audience of energy and sustainability managers with our sister title Utility Week’s audience of utilities industry professionals – along with teams of hackers and tech experts – to solve real-world problems and accelerate the shift towards future business systems. Topics being ‘hacked’ include big energy data and demand response-based energy management.

EV SHOWROOM & CHARGING HUB – Our Electric Vehicle (EV) Showroom returns for 2019, bringing to life how EVs can be implemented by businesses and help reduce carbon footprint as part of a sustainability strategy.

PLASTICS HUB – Our hugely popular Mission Possible Plastics Hub content is coming to life. Over the two days, the show will house a dedicated area for industry professionals to connect with one another, share circular economy ideas, meet packaging solutions providers, and discover ground-breaking plastic waste innovations. Designed by edie’s editorial team, this special area of the show will include single-use plastics roundtable discussions, packaging solutions stands and a professionally facilitated live plastics ‘thinkathon’.

ADVICE CLINICS – One of our most popular offerings, the edie Live advice clinics return for 2019, allowing visitors free 20-minute, one-to-one consultations with experts across a full range of sustainability and energy topics that are material to their business.

MISSION POSSIBLE WORKSHOPS – Another popular feature of 2019, our Mission Possible Workshops provide visitors with a unique opportunity to collaborate with peers to solve the key challenges and opportunities they are facing in their mission to achieve a sustainable future. Starting with a blank sheet of paper, pre-allocated groups will discuss the issues that we face, share ‘war stories’ and work together to create a unique solution to the topic. Workshops were fully booked last year so register early to secure your spot.

THE MISSION POSSIBLE SOFA – Join the edie editorial team for some well-earned sofa talk as we interview a range of industry experts on key sustainability and themes – live on camera in a talk-show style. Watch last year’s Mission Possible Sofa episodes here.
