Joint SUDS effort

SUDStainability HAS been set up by three independent companies to offer a cost-effective, environmentally-aware and all-inclusive drainage service from design through to construction and long-term asset management.

The company will focus on creating environmentally and ecologically sound designs that can manage surface water effectively within the development and benefit the surrounding landscape and wildlife.

The new company is made up of Corylus Planning & Environmental, Premier Water Solutions and Land & Water Services. The first two have experience in designing SUDS, while Corylus has been involved in sustainable developments in the Cotswold Water Park and Premier Water Solutions designs practical and sensitive surface water schemes.

James Maclean, a director of SUDStainability, said: “Changes in policy and legislation require the landowner, developer and local authority to become more involved in the sustainable removal of surface water. Previously, this has entailed employing at least three different entities to deal with each stage of the process: design, installation and maintenance.”

He added: “SUDStainability offers a complete service, specialising in soft engineering technologies to mimic natural drainage and preserve the landscape and biodiversity. We will design and build each drainage system and will provide the maintenance for it.”
