Resin manufacturer gets in on clean air act

NEWS RELEASE: Manufacturing resins for use in the water based paints industry is a complex process and inevitably, with such a volatile product, extreme care has to be taken to ensure environmental compliance.

Avecia, based in Barcelona, manufacture Monomer Resin and have recently installed a Honeycat Catalytic Oxidation System supplied by AirProtekt from the UK.

Acrylates and MEK volatile organic compounds are produced in the emission gases at a flow rate of 6000 Nm³hr in a concentration up to 12gNm³.

AirProtekt, based in Cambridge, have designed and installed the system which includes flame arrestors, an explosion panel and early warning LEL detectors to prevent flash back from the manufacturing process. The new Catalytic system was installed on time, commissioned successfully and is operating efficiently to control the emissions to atmopshere.

Catalytic converters have the advantage of low maintenance requirements, long life efficiency and a diverse range of applications in industrial air pollution control.

AirProtekt has a wealth of experience, built over many years, in supplying these systems and offers a complete aftercare and maintenance service to compliment its pilot trial, design and installation expertise.
