Resource Association to partner with CIWM and ESA for 2015 conference
Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) president John Quinn has announced that the Resource Association will be partnering with CIWM and the Environmental Services Association (ESA) to host its annual conference next year.
Speaking at the official launch of CIWM’s circular economy report in Westminster yesterday (4 November), newly-appointed president Quinn said that he was “delighted to be able to announce… that we are welcoming a third partner – the Resource Association – on board for the 2015 event”.
He added: “With these three bodies working together, we can create a genuinely inclusive forum for professionals from right across our sector to discuss how we can maximise the opportunities offered by the circular economy.”
Resource Association chief executive Ray Georgeson told edie.net: “We are delighted to be joining forces with CIWM and ESA in supporting what will be the major industry conference of the year in 2015. We all know that increased collaboration across our sector is vital to improved resource efficiency and the emerging circular economy, and that applies to us as much as the constituent parts of our memberships.
“We look forward to collaborating on what will be an agenda shaping conference embracing all parts of the resources supply chain, and coming hard on the heels of the General Election.”
Speaking about CIWM’s recently published circular economy report, Quinn said that it was “just the starting point” and said it was “extremely encouraging that so many of those surveyed believe that CIWM has a role to play in making the circular economy a more tangible concept”.
He explained: “In my inauguration address a couple of weeks ago in Northern Ireland, I confirmed that the Institution has taken on board the clear message from our members and other sector professionals that they want more support in understanding the circular economy and its implications.
“Many feel that CIWM has the potential to be a valuable facilitator, networker, disseminator and catalyst at the heart of the unfolding debate, and I want to make this happen during my presidential year.”
