Norfolk County Council is considering ditching its petrol-powered lawnmowers and bringing in sheep to keep the grass closely cropped at its Norwich HQ.
The move is part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to improve its environmental performance and reduce emissions.
Grazing animals are widely used as a natural alternative to mowers in conservation projects up and down the country.
Norfolk County Council’s plan is still at an early stage with officers looking into the detail and members have yet to decide on whether to adopt the scheme.
