Bosses at The Trustland Group were concerned about the amount of waste the firm was sending to landfill.

They decided to set up a website which would allow other construction firms to look at what materials Trustland had but did not need and were therefore willing to giveaway.

The website, Builderscrap.com proved a hit with the construction industry and was rolled out to business and other users.

The site’s operations manager, Edmund McGee, explained that at the moment the site is funded by Trustland, but long term plans would seen it become self sufficient through the sale of premium listings.

Mr McGee spoke at RWM in Birmingham’s NEC last week.
