SUDAN: Government to assess environmental hazards from emerging oil industry

The Government has appointed a panel to investigate potential environmental damage, following environmentalists concerns over the construction of a 1,160km pipeline to transport 100,000 barrels/day of crude oil across the country, and an oil refinery, with the involvement of six foreign companies.
