SUDS brochure launched in response to changes to legislation
A Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems solutions (SUDS) brochure has been developed in response to recent changes in SUDS legislation and the EU Water Framework Directive.
As a result of the changes, responsibility for ensuring surface water is cleaned up before it is returned to the water course has been passed onto developers, specifiers, engineers and local authorities.
Plastic sustainable drainage and water product manufacturing firm, Polypipe Water Management Solutions (WMS), launched the new brochure ‘Stormwater Treatment’ to help provide guidance and advice on SUDS solutions.
Produced in consultation with Polypipe’s engineers and consultants, the brochure looks at the issues surrounding polluted surfaces and the impact on water management, detailing information on untreated contamination, groundwater regulations.
It also explains the range of treatment options available which are applicable with the new legislation.
Polypipe’s, head of marketing, Rachel Smith, said the new brochure has been launched to enable organisations make an “informed decision when choosing which products will form part of their SUDS proposal”
She added: “SUDS legislation already makes clear requirements for the provision of attenuation and source control solutions to help prevent flooding on newly developed land, and increasingly developers are facing new regulations that dictate how to integrate systems that intercept pollution as close to source as possible to raise the overall level of water quality.”
