Sustainability stats: This week in numbers
The past seven days were dominated by a food-waste storm kicked up by the BBC programme Hugh's War on Waste.
The programme claimed that a huge amount of fruit and vegetables were being discarded because of supermarket’s cosmetic policies, but the retailers we quick to point out the good work they are doing.
It was also an interesting week for those considering the business case for sustainability. A report from Verizon and the Campbell Soup Company pointed out the massive potential benefits from corporate responsibility, but another report from Aston University found that a minority of executives considered the low-carbon transition a priority.
On the bright side of the green business news cycle, Ikea achieved a landmark sustainability milestone, US financial giant Goldman Sachs announced ambitious plans for low-carbon investment and a ground-breaking floating wind farm was given the green light in Scotland.
