Sustainable Business Covered Podcast: Marking Fashion Revolution Week 2021
In episode 100 of the Sustainable Business Covered podcast, senior reporter Sarah George delivers three exclusive interviews with sustainable and ethical SMEs to mark Fashion Revolution Week.
Listen in to find out about fashion’s biggest environmental and social problems, and how innovation and collaboration can help solve them.
The first part of this podcast features a panel talk with HURR co-founder and chief executive Victoria Prew and Birdsong London co-founder Sophie Slater. Together, they explore the challenges and opportunities for innovative fashion business models like rental and made-to-order against the backdrop of Covid.
Part two of this episode is all about footwear.
First up, VivoBarefoot chief executive and co-founder Galahad Clark discusses how consumer wellbeing and environmental sustainability intersect in the shoe sector. He also details learnings in setting up ‘ReVivo’ – the brand’s first repair and resale platform.
Last but by no means least is Third Mind founder Steve Hamel. After a long career in the military and then in the mainstream footwear sector, Steve realised that change was desperately needed – in terms of both the types of shoes available to men and their quality, and the sustainability credentials of their materials and manufacturing.
At the end of the episode, Sarah reminds listeners of edie’s upcoming masterclass on low-carbon heat and Inspiration Sessions on sustainability communications, reporting and engagement, taking place online on 29 April and 6 May respectively. Full information for both events can be found here.
