The latest episode of the edie podcast is a whistle-stop tour of the businesses and technologies that are spurring the UK towards its net-zero vision for 2050, or earlier.

The first interview is with Yorkshire Water’s head of sustainability Gordon Rogers on the water industry’s transition to net-zero and a look at the company’s own Carbon Week of employee engagement.

Following that, Matt speaks to Peel Environmental’s Director of Corporate Affairs Victoria Merton who is on hand to discuss the delivery on the £700m super energy hub in Cheshire, that features net-zero energy technology and waste to hydrogen facilities that combine the themes of net-zero carbon and the circular economy.

Up next, Sarah takes us back to Birmingham for SPARK 2.0, where she grabs a few minutes with Costa Coffee’s head of environment Oliver Rosevear and then the National Trust’s lead Project Manager for Renewable Energy Adrian Fox, to discuss the themes of the event and how both organisations are faring on their own sustainability strategies.

Finally, we take a look to the future to see whether some of the much-talked-about technologies can actually help deliver net-zero. Sarah interviews Econonic Technologies chief executive. Dr Rowena Sellens. The cleantech pioneer is making significant investments to upscale carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) and storage technology, and we find out what role it will play in the net-zero transition.
