Sustainable Business Leadership in 2019: edie publishes flagship survey results
edie has this week published a comprehensive report breaking down exactly what 'business leadership' looks like from the perspective of hundreds of sustainability, CSR and energy professionals from across the country.
The 14-page 2019 Sustainable Business Leadership Survey, developed in association with energy company ENGIE, explored the future of sustainable business. The resulting report was launched at edie’s Sustainability Leaders Forum in London on Wednesday via an on-stage panel discussion with business leaders.
Launching the report, edie’s Insight Editor George Ogleby said: “The need for truly sustainable business leadership has never been greater. Today, the world faces immense resources depletion and alarming level of climate change, and in this context, only those who assume responsibility – and inspire others to do the same – will survive and thrive.
“It is with this forward-thinking mindset that edie decided to launch the Sustainable Business Leadership Survey – and the results are truly inspiring.”
Inside the report
The report is based on the findings of the extensive survey of 250 sustainability, energy and resource professionals about the various challenges, drivers and opportunities related to sustainable business leadership.
Was 2018 a successful year from a sustainable business perspective? How optimistic do sustainability and energy professionals feel about the year ahead? How are business commitments developing and changing across key areas such as renewable energy, single-use plastics and social sustainability? And what are the business traits and personal skills required to turn those commitments into actions in 2019?
The report has the answers to these questions and more. Alongside the exclusive survey results, the report includes a variety of ‘in action’ case studies, key facts and stats and pull quotes from business leaders representing all major industry sectors – which together provide an end-to-end overview of sustainable business leadership in 2019.
This is the first in a series of annual surveys of corporate sustainability and energy professionals – several of the survey questions asked for the 2019 report will be asked in the same way next year, allowing for year-on-year comparisons and key sustainability trends to be identified.
