With the UK on lockdown and edie readers working remotely or on furlough, this brand new series of video interviews keeps you connected to the inspirational business leaders who are continuing to drive sustainability and champion climate action from their own homes.

#SustyTalk is all about keeping edie’s loyal readers connected to sustainable business leaders across the world, whilst reminding us all that sustainability and climate action must go on, through the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Today, edie’s senior reporter Sarah George dials in for a discussion with Business for Nature’s executive director Eva Zabey, after the organisation launched an open call to CEOs, urging them to embed ambitious targets around biodiversity into their Covid-19 recovery plans.

Zabey discusses how, despite the economic and practical impacts of the pandemic and the fact that the 15th COP on biodiversity has been postponed, business and public appetite for accelerating measures to protect and regenerate nature is growing.

“We know that 400 companies have, in different ways, made commitments to reverse nature loss, and 1,200 companies are taking action on protection,” Zabey said. “The message here is that it’s just not enough. We need to urgently scale and speed this up.”

Zabey also provides best-practice advice on avoiding greenwash by setting nature targets in line with the scale of the challenge, and on forging partnerships for nature.
