With the UK on lockdown and edie readers working remotely or on furlough, this brand new series of video interviews keeps you connected to the inspirational business leaders who are continuing to drive sustainability and champion climate action from their own homes.

#SustyTalk is all about keeping edie’s loyal readers connected to sustainable business leaders across the world, whilst reminding us all that sustainability and climate action must go on, through the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Today, edie’s senior reporter Sarah George dials Belgium for a catch-up with cover & Method’s head of long-term innovation Tom Domen, following the launch of the firm’s ‘Fertilise the Future’ fund earlier this month.

The fund will see £500,000 of the extra profits generated by Ecover & Method as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic invested in organisations with innovative ideas promoting nature-based solutions.

“We’ve been thinking for a while about how we can open up more and collaborate more with innovators across the world to have more of an impact,” Domen said.

Domen also provides insight on how Ecover & Method has been working on its plastics reduction agenda, at a time when the big plastics lobby is hijacking hygiene concerns. The firm notably operates refill stations through a network of independent retailers and is partaking in Waitrose & Partners’ ‘Unpacked’ initiative.
