SustyTalk: Planet Patrol’s Lizzie Carr on single-use plastics and business activism

edie's #SustyTalk series continues during Circular Economy Week, with Planet Patrol's founder and activist Lizzie Carr discussing public attitudes towards single-use plastics and how businesses can become activists to help create a closed-loop future.

With edie readers working remotely or on furlough, this brand new series of video interviews keeps you connected to the inspirational business leaders who are continuing to drive sustainability and champion climate action from their own homes.

#SustyTalk is all about keeping edie’s loyal readers connected to sustainable business leaders across the world, whilst reminding us all that sustainability and climate action must go on through the current Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

The latest episode sees edie’s content editor Matt Mace speaking with Planet Patrol’s founder and activist Lizzie Carr.

Carr, who recently penned the foreword for edie’s new business blueprint guide for single-use plastics, discusses public attitudes towards litter, waste and single-use items and whether efforts to reduce them have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

During the conversation, Carr mentions the need for businesses to start having “uncomfortable conversations” with a range of external stakeholders, including NGOs, in order to ensure they are doing due diligence on efforts to move towards a circular economy.

Additionally, Carr explains how sustainability professionals can help their businesses become activists for a sustainable future.
