The northern provinces of Phrae and Lampang are expecting severe water shortages, in the next dry season, with many reservoirs already critically low.

The Government has asked farmers to use water sparingly and to grow crops that need less water. It has also to local authorities to distribute sandbags to create river embankments to trap water. Bangkok already plans to bring in 3 million cubic metres of water by truck.
