The filtration ‘root’ to wastewater management

Filtration systems manufacturer Goodtech Vanpipe Ltd has recently invested in new mobile laboratory facilities and pilot plants to offer on-site evaluation of process fluid streams and wastewater management. The company aims to show companies with no process water handling how economical and environmental benefits can be made using on-site filtration, and as such is offering a free on-site environmental and process treatment evaluation for any company looking to install or upgrade its wastewater or process water filtration a ready-to-plant deciduous tree.

Analytical testing

Test facilities onboard the mobile laboratory include pressure leaf bomb testing, micro-pulse leaf testing, rotary drum vacuum leaf testing, cross flow laboratory testing, suspended solids, cake moisture content, and much more. Extensive analytical testing can also be arranged.

Once the testing process is out of the way, the mobile plant can be hired, subject to availability, to evaluate a customer’s requirements across the G.V. Rapid-Pulse and G.V. Micro-Pulse modes of operation. When a filter is needed to deliver quality filtration with high flow rates and maximum economy, a customer would use the G.V. Rapid-Pulse filtration mode of operation – ideal for applications where operating space is limited. The upright tubular filter has its own highly effective cleaning system which ensures high filter utilisation and low operating costs.

Suspended filter elements allow filtered liquid to travel on the inside of each element to a storage area at the top of the vessel where it is used to backwash the filter. Applications would include water (clean or dirty), brine, electrolyte, chemical production, caustic chlorine, phosphate coatings, coal slurry and any low-cost material filtration application.

Sub-micron filtration

The G.V. Micro-Pulse operational mode, on the other hand, would be used where an application required sub-micron filtration and particle removal. This unique combination of proven filter design and advanced membrane technology provides a low-cost solution ideally suited for effluent treatment or product recovery.

The dual benefit of this filter is that it allows both clarification and solids concentration to be accomplished with the same equipment. Micro-Pulse was designed to achieve sub-micron filtration through the incorporation of a Gore-Tex Membrane, without the use of pre-coats or filter aids. It facilitates the recovery of small amounts of product from waste streams and its return to the process stream without contamination. Particles as small as 0.5 micron can be removed without cake formation.
