WCR takes innovative approach

Innovation is the keynote of WCR Vehicle Hire which, from a base in Evesham, Worcestershire, provides not only a national specialist waste vehicle hire service, 24/7, but is also offering new vehicle options and is actively involved in a partnership project employing people with learning disabilities

There is nothing conventional about the business WCR founders, Nik Spencer, Managing Director, and Operations Director, Loyd Chandler, have developed in both vehicle hire – covering long and short term contract hire and split hire – and in recycling.

WCR is part of a group of companies that not only continues to expand its range of vehicle hire vehicles but also operates its own recycling scheme within the area and owns an operational recycling facility producing materials that are exported throughout Europe.

WCR is actively involved in the Re-box partnership, consisting also of Herefordshire Council Social Services and a Ross-on-Wye based charity, EnviroAbility. Under the project, which has gained international recognition, WCR employs people with disabilities and has developed a vehicle collection system for recycling.

The WCR “Easyload” materials collection vehicle, which was on display at this year’s CIWM Torbay Exhibition, has been designed to provide a stillage truck that meets the needs of operators collecting material for recycling.

Features include cab space for up to six crew, high payload and volume capacity, and easy and quick unloading by forklift.

On the recycling front, WCR has been operating kerbside recycling schemes since 1994 and has been continually expanding its role in working with local authorities.
The company’s partnership with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, for example, covers the weekly collection from some 60,000 homes.

On the hire side of the business, hire vehicles can be supplied customised and fully equipped to higher specifications for customers, such as Flintshire, where features include fitting Eminox and low entry cabs and painting trucks in the authority’s livery.

The company recently achieved its long term target of running only vehicles under three years old in its hire fleet and has set the next goal for municipal vehicles that are 100% reliable for three years.

WCR has an extensive range of modern 2000-2004 trade and domestic RCVs and recycling vehicles for sale as well as hire.
