Anglian Water Group has been named as one of the best environmental performers in the FTSE 350 Index, with an average score of 99%, placing the company fourth overall, and the number one company in England and Wales. According to Business in the Environment (BIE), the business-led organisation campaigning for corporate environmental responsibility, Anglian has a particularly successful programme of environmental awareness and a programme of monitoring environmental management through the company’s top 50 suppliers and contractors.

Portacel has launched a new compact gas-leakage detection system. The system is fully compliant with European EMC directive EN61326 and safety standard EN61010-1, with an operating temperature range of –10 to +45ºC. It can be used in most countries, and includes a programmable data-logging facility with capacity for up to 4000 records, equating to 10 weeks of data per channel based on a sampling rate of one sample per hour.

Yorkshire Water has announced that it is to invest a further £4 million into improving York’s drinking water and enhancing the security of the city’s water supplies. Work will begin on 8 April.
