Underground stormwater attenuation tanks

SPEL Products has supplied eight Tankstor underground stormwater attenuation tanks for a large infrastructure works in the West Midlands for 2.1 million litres stormwater storage capacity.

The larger tanks, 275,000 litres each, measure 22.65m long by 4.175m diameter. The underground tanks are manufactured by a chop-hoop filament winding process developed by SPEL in 1988 particularly for underground tanks. The process incorporates improved features over existing methods of production, resulting in high-strength quality tank shells. The laminate construction incorporates a resin-rich glass-reinforced internal corrosion barrier, structural laminate and an external resin-rich water penetration barrier, ensuring the laminate provides maximum resistance to external water penetration and internal tank contents. Tankstor tanks can also be used with the recently launched SPEL RainSave rainwater utilisation system for larger industrial/commercial applications.
