Unique Stormcell® Design Prevents Stormwater Storage Siltation

Planning restrictions for most new developments dictate that stormwater runoff into existing sewers or watercourses has to be controlled. This usually means on-site storage of the stormwater and a regulated outflow. Unless prevented from entering the storage, the sediments, silts and debris present in stormwater will reduce the system volume and effectiveness, possibly causing failure or blockages.

Hydro’s Stormcell® is uniquely designed to exclude silt, sediment and other debris from settling inside the storage. The patented perforated pipework layout under the storage area maintains self-cleansing velocities, and prevents silts from entering the system. This is further reinforced by finely woven geotextile layers top and bottom of the storage blocks. CFD studies have demonstrated that storage systems without this feature risk rapid build-up of sediments, which will need removal – if indeed this were possible.
