Street fouling was becoming such a serious problem in many parts of the City of Westminster that the council previously implemented a bylaw to prevent it. To date, 70 people have been arrested for urinating in the street.

Having testing many different products, the Westminster City Council has finally chosen a de-odorising cleaner, aptly named Urine-Off, which is now being trialled in all the worst affected areas, such as Covent Garden in the West End.

A senior spokesman for Westminster City Council said: “The product did exactly what it said on the tin. We were very impressed with the results, as were the long-suffering residents and visitors who have been enduring or exposed to this unpleasant problem.”

The treatment will help to improve the local environment, and the council hopes will deter so-called foulers from re-offending.
