Aside from offsetting more than 450 tonnes of carbon so far, the Lifestraw project will help provide more than 3 million glasses of safe drinking water to families in Africa.
“This certainly gives our delegates something to think about as they enjoy a safe glass of water during the event today” said conference organiser Mark Baker.
“It’s vital for us that we practice what we preach. We encourage our delegates to come together and share best practice in sustainability at our events. Offsetting their travel emissions through ClimateCare – who specialise in projects that both cut carbon and improve people’s lives – means we can demonstrate best practice and encourage others to follow in our footsteps.”
ClimateCare staff were on also hand to demonstrate how simple, gravity fed LifeStraw filters purify water, meaning it no longer needs to be boiled. This reduces exposure to killer waterborne diseases like Typhoid and Cholera, as well as cutting carbon emissions.
