AFRICA: £100,000 from US awarded for bio-tech research

The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMT), based in Mexico, will also take part in the biotechnology partnership. Training at USDA laboratories will be provided to both African scientists and faculty from American participant universities.

Tuskegee University, in Tuskegee Alabama, established the original link with the African National Agricultural Research Service – the service is based in Kenya, Ghana and Senegal.

Kobena Koomson, the Ghanaian ambassador to the US, spoke at the announcement of the funding and welcomed the news of funding.
