Available to watch on-demand: Free Corporate Power Purchase Agreements online masterclass

As businesses seek to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels by powering operations, systems and facilities with renewable energy, CPPAs are becoming an increasingly popular tool.

Businesses obtained 13.4GW of clean energy through power purchase agreements (PPAs) in 2018, more than doubling the record set in the previous year. Companies have signed contracts to purchase more than 32GW of clean power since 2008, an amount comparable to the generation capacity of the Netherlands, with 86% of this activity coming since 2015 and more than 40% in 2018 alone.

But what are Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) in the context of renewable energy? Which organisations are most suited to adopting CPPAs, and what are the business benefits of doing so?

To find out, edie ran a 45-minute masterclass on Thursday 5 September at 11 am. In association with energy company Ørsted, the masterclass will enable professionals to take forward plans for CPPAs and will look at the most important parts of an Agreement, including the various issues and stakeholders that need to be involved to make them a reality.
