Call for entries for Asian water management excellence awards

The Awards, to be held at the end of March, are entering into their third year, and are aimed at recognising outstanding contributions made by individuals, government and private organisations towards the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of a water related services, optimising water use, and the conservation of water resources in Asia. The Awards’ organisers are looking for examples of water management that are outstanding models of innovative, successful and future-orientated methods of improving water resource use in Asia.

The four categories that individuals and organisations can apply for are:

Last year, the individual award was presented to His Royal Highness Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, Sultan of Yogyakarta in Indonesia for his “outstanding achievement in the development and conservation of the water resources in Yogyakarta”. The industry prize was awarded to the semiconductor company STMicroelectronics Pte Ltd, for the firm’s implementation and promotion of the efficient use of water in their Ang Mo Kio industrial site in Singapore. Finally, the NGO award went to the ABS-CBN Foundation in The Philippines, part of the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, for its programme to save the La Mesa Dam watershed in Metro Manila.
