Dress down to save energy

The country’s prime minister has told men working in local government offices to stop wearing suits, jackets and ties to stay cool.

Sheikh Hasina, who was re-elected in a landslide victory winning 262 seats out of 299 last year, hopes the move will help towards ending power cuts that have blighted the country.

The ruling will also apply to ministers who have been told to set the example during the country’s hot months, which run from March to the end of November.

The country’s official dress code is being re-written to accommodate the move, which will last for the foreseeable future.
