A spokesman for the town council explained: the scheme ‘was originally included in the River Fergus Lower,(Ennis) Drainage Scheme, Bank Place bridge to Doora bridge, but was brought forward and separated out to speed up the work’.

Now the work is underway it’s expected to be completed within four months at a total cost of €250,000.The main lower scheme will be built on site before the end of 2010.
