EPA programme assists Carlow business

The Kilkenny Advertiser reports that Carlow firm Inter-Euro Technology (IET) deployed a water and energy conservation scheme with the assistance of the EPA’s Cleaner Greener Production Programme (CGPP).

A system for rinse water recovery devised by the company reduced water use and wastewater creation by 250,000 tonnes a year and savings of 660 megawatts of energy.

In total the process resulted in Euro 1.6m in cost savings per year.

The CGPP was established in 2001 as a grant scheme to encourage and assist Irish organisations to adopt cleaner and greener practices.

In total, the EPA has committed Euro 3.7m to 59 organisations for demonstration projects.

IET is involved in the second phase of the CGPP and is also a partner of the EU project IONMET, which has 33 partners from 19 EU member states.
