Finns push for solution to End-of-Life Vehicles Directive

The Presidency has invited all the Permanent Representations to a meeting in Brussels next Tuesday, with only one item on the agenda: End-of-Life Vehicles Directive.

The meeting will be an exploratory session, to get to know the positions of the various countries “and to see if it is possible to solve the problems in a reasonable timeframe”, a Presidency spokesperson told edie. The Directive, stalled by the Germans at the last meeting, is a sensitive issue that both the German and Austrian Presidencies have failed to resolve. The ambition of the Finnish Presidency is “to find a positive solution in time for October’s Environment Council”.
