High profile support for anti-nuclear protest

The planned protest is part of an ongoing and concerted campaign to prevent the development at the EDF-owned site from going ahead. Protesters from different community groups plan to form a “symbolic chain” around the site on March 10, followed by a 24-hour blockade of the site’s main entrance.

Protesters are being asked to assemble at 12pm, in time for the opening address given by Caroline Lucas scheduled for 12.45pm, before encircling the site from 1pm onwards.

CND chair Kate Hudson is also expected to speak at the event, while similar protests are scheduled to take place at other proposed nuclear sites in the country including Wylfa in North Wales and Heysham in Lancashire.
