Insurers warned of problems associated with climate change

Written specifically for insurance managers and underwriters, the report is aimed at providing insurers with information on the climate change situation, including the problems and opportunities that may affect insurers over the next 20 years.

“This is particularly timely as we are just about to reach a critical phase in the progress of the Kyoto Protocol,” said Dr Julian Salt, natural project manager within BRE’s Risk Sciences, and one of the authors of the report. “The insurers could have a major impact on the outcome of the climate change debate if they chose to take a leadership role.”

Copies of The Implications of Climate Change for Insurers – an update, and the outlook to 2020 are available for £75 from BRE before 31 December, and then for £95. Further information is available from the BRE website, or by phoning 01923 664514.
