Landfill firm WRG rebrands and diversifies into EfW

The new name is part of the integration between WRG and Focsa Services, both owned by the international infrastructure, environmental services and energy group, FCC.

The rebranding was first signalled last year and the integration of WRG’s and Focsa’s operations has been gathering pace since then.

WRG had been one of the dominant landfill operators in the UK waste market for many years, but is now looking to diversify by offering commercial and industrial waste collection and renewable energy services.

FCC Environment’s chief executive Paul Taylor said treating waste as a resource was now the company’s main focus going forward.

“We have made great progress in moving our business from one that was rooted in waste disposal to one that now provides a wide range of collection, recycling, treatment and energy recovery services,” he said.

FCC Environment is currently building a new energy-from-waste facility as it looks to capitalise on the renewables market.
