Dennis Eagle nets wide range of orders

Dennis Eagle has recorded success across a wide range of customers in recent months. After having supplied its first Elite chassis into the fleet of Premier Waste Management in February 2003, the fulfilment of an order by the RCV manufacturer last month (January) for two Huffermann FELs brings the vehicle intake figure to 32 in just under 12 months.

Forming part of a major fleet expansion programme by what is stated to be the largest independent waste management company in the North East of England, Premier Waste Management invested in some 28 Dennis Eagle Elite chassis during the past year. Specified with Terberg Matec UK Kerbsider bodies, the Elite 4x2 chassis, featuring the new Elite 2 cab with driver plus three seating configuration, are being used to deliver the company's "Kerbit-scheme", a recycling initiative that by the end of 2003 had been extended to 365,000 residents in Tyne & Wear and Co Durham.

Premier Waste Management also bolstered its five-vehicle fleet dedicated to trade waste with the addition of two Dennis Eagle Phoenix 2 23s based on the Elite 6x4 chassis. The two new high capacity 35m3 Huffermann FELs will also be used for commercial waste collection.

Towards the end of last year, Cleanaway, having secured a seven-year refuse collection, recycling and street cleansing contract from Elmbridge Borough Council in Surrey, specified a new fleet of bespoke RCVs supplied by Dennis Eagle. Based on the Phoenix 2 bodywork and the Elite 2 chassis, the new fleet of 13 vehicles all feature the Elite 2 chassis cab with driver plus three seating configuration.

Covering some 50,000-plus households within the Borough of Elmbridge, the Dennis Eagle fleet is made up of a variety of chassis and body configurations, that according to Cleanaway Area Manager, Tim Guile, are enabling the waste management company "to deliver an enhanced refuse and recycling service in Elmbridge."

Out of the 13-strong fleet, 12 of the RCVs feature Phoenix 2 bodies. Seven Phoenix 23s have been supplied on the manufacturer's stand-ard width 6x4 chassis, whilst the remaining five are all based on the 2.2 narrow chassis variant.

Three Phoenix 2 9s have been supplied with the 4x2 chassis, the remaining two having Phoenix 2 15 bodies on the 6x2 Elite chassis. Each of the Phoenix 2s has been supplied with the low level, auto split Terberg bin lift. A Compact 8 body on a foreign chassis completes the Dennis Eagle RCV line-up.
