New web tool helps home-owners save energy and money

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the average US household spends $1,400 on energy bills. However, those using the new Energy Star Home Improvement Tool could cut their costs by as much as 30%, and also help to save the environment.

Jointly sponsored by the EPA and the Department of the Environment, the new website is designed to increase consumer interest in energy efficiency, and to foster market activities that assist such measures. The website gives advice on home repair and renovation such as the laying down of insulation, or on remodelling particular rooms, such as the kitchen, as well as suggestions on purchase of energy-efficient appliances.
