New initiative launched to support Net Zero for fashion

Last updated: 7th May 2021

A new initiative to support organisations in the fashion industry to achieve Net Zero Greenhouse Gas emissions has been launched in a collaboration between energy and Net Zero specialists, JRP Solutions and non-financial auditing software company, Clearchain.

JRP Solutions and Clearchain have brought together experts in a wide range of sustainability disciplines, all of whom have experience in the fashion industry, to form the ‘Net Zero For Fashion’  initiative.

The need for the fashion industry to be more sustainable is clear and quantifiable, but the challenges are significant. From end to end in the fashion lifecycle there are so many considerations in transitioning to a Net Zero organisation:

  • Fabric choices
  • Margins
  • Trim choices
  • Manufacturing techniques
  • Product design and production
  • Ticketing, labelling and product packaging
  • Transit packaging
  • Ratios and quantities
  • Manufacturing locations
  • Shipping options
  • Choice of vendor

Some retailers and brand owners know where to go and how to get there. Others either know some or none of what they need to do and would welcome help and support – which is where Net Zero For Fashion comes in.

Net Zero For Fashion comprises a network of specialists headed up by Carol Somper, sustainability lead, Andrew Lambert, software lead and George Richards, account management.

There are various options for engaging with the organisation, depending on where you are on your journey to Net Zero:

  • Objective-setting
  • Benchmarking and gap-analysis
  • Planning and executing change
  • Auditing and reporting on progress

“We recognise the challenges the fashion industry faces and as partners, we have launched Net Zero For Fashion to offer a unique combination of technical and fashion industry expertise, with software to support Net Zero programmes to support fashion businesses to achieve Net Zero,” states George Richards, Account Lead for Net Zero For Fashion and Director of JRP Solutions.
