Struggling with recording travel emissions? Here’s the answer!

Last updated: 30th August 2022

Some of our customers were finding recording travel emissions challenging, so we came up with this nifty little calculator that captures travel data for both business miles and employee commute and calculate the associated emissions per trip.

Travel related emissions can form a significant part of an organisation’s total footprint and are notoriously difficult to capture and influence across different functions, teams and sites and with different levels of traveller skill and understanding.

Conversely, this is also a high opportunity area for emission reductions because travel habits and fleets can easily be adapted and therefore should be a priority area for organisations to target emission mitigation. To identify where there are opportunities and to accurately measure progress, travel activities must be captured in detail. So, what’s the answer?

Net Zero Consultants JRP Solutions have developed a user-friendly ‘travel calculator’ that can capture travel data for both business miles and employee commute and calculate the associated emissions per trip. Using a ‘calculate as you go’ approach ensures data accuracy, is more efficient than mass calculation relieving staff of this burden and it makes real-time data accessible for monitoring. It also adds a behavioural benefit as the act of entering trip details and seeing the resulting emissions will result in greater and awareness and accountability of individual choices.
