Printing firm first in NI to get FSC

GPS Colour Graphics, based in Belfast, is the first printer in Northern Ireland to be Carbon Neutral and FSC accredited.

The FSC, an independent not-for-profit organisation, was established to promote responsible management of the world’s forests.

Accreditation means a product or company uses wood from forests managed to meet social, economic and ecological sustainability.

The FSC sign is supported by the World Wildlife Fund, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and other environmental organisations.

Helen McClay, GPS’s business development director told the Belfast Telegraph that the firm could now provide “high quality print jobs that can be traced through all the steps of the production process back to sustainable, managed forests”.

She added: “The certification demonstrates our commitment to sustainability.

“FSC certified paper tells you that the recycled or virgin fibre content of the paper comes from sources that meet FSC international standards.”
