SWW £3.5m water network upgrade nears completion

In the latest phase of SWW’s mains renewal programme, which began last summer, the water company and its partner May Gurney will reline 800 metres of mains piping in Honiton High Street, Devon.

SWW director of engineering Graham Murphy, said: “We take great pride in delivering the best quality drinking water to our customers. Old, corroded water mains sometimes meant our water was not always arriving in the condition we would like.

“Relining and replacing the water mains in Honiton will help ensure everyone gets a sparkling glass of refreshing water when they turn on the taps, cutting down incidents of discolouration and enabling us to reduce chlorine levels. The work will also prolong the life of the mains.”

Work is scheduled to start on January 28 between Dowell Street and King’s Road junctions and is expected to complete by the end of March.
