Wales to give £130 million boost to transport

The new projects include the provision of cycle and pedestrian routes, designed to develop integrated transport, such as the Greater Bargoed Community Regeneration Scheme, relieving the town centre of ‘through’ traffic, and also including a new bus station and better integration with the rail service.

“Work will start over the next five years, subject to the satisfactory completion of design and feasibility studies and the completion of statutory procedures,” said Essex. “I have focused particularly on infrastructure schemes which address the critical issues of community regeneration and access to economic development sites.”

“I am delighted by the positive response from local authorities to our invitation to consider innovative approaches to the public transport needs of Wales,” said Essex.
