edie’s content director Luke Nicholls said: “Covid-19 has had a profound impact on all functions within business – and sustainability and energy management are no exception. Now, the focus must be on delivering a truly sustainable, net-zero and just recovery from this pandemic – and that’s what our Mission Possible 2020 report is all about.

“I urge sustainability, CSR and energy professionals across the country to use this report as inspiration to keep climate action high on the corporate agenda; and to share it with who can help us achieve this sustainable future – from peers and colleagues to customers and the supply chain.”

Ambition into Action

The Mission Possible 2020 report showcases world-leading and potentially game-changing examples of ‘net-zero’ business in action across six of the UK’s biggest industries: Utilities, Manufacturing, Construction, Retail, Hospitality & Leisure, and the Public Sector.

It includes thought-leadership articles and comments from a spread individual sustainable business leaders and industry groups, along with input from more than 200 sustainability, CSR and energy professionals gathered from two n-depth surveys carried out over the past few months.

It begins with a rousing foreword from the “godfather of sustainability”, John Elkington, who stresses the crucial importance of courageous leadership and collaboration to lead a green recovery from coronavirus. Elkington writes: “We need a much more systematic focus on ensuring our economic, social and environmental systems are resilient and – where necessary – the subject of sustained, effective regeneration efforts. It is time for us all to step up – or get out of the way.”
