USFilter has announced that it is continuing its relationship with Midwest region Indian tribes following the award of a contract to provide a regional wastewater treatment plant. The contract comprises serving over 25 square miles of commercial and residential facilities for both Native American and non-Native community members in a two county area surrounding Lake Mille Lacs.
Meanwhile, further north in Canada, the magazine, Corporate Knights, has announced its selection for the top 50 corporate citizens. The most powerful finding of the new ranking is that the share performance of the most socially responsible companies beat the general market by a considerable amount. The compound five-year return of the best 50 corporate citizens to the end of December last year is 21.9%, whereas the average Canadian equity mutual fund turned in a mere 6.7% performance for the same period.
Again in Canada, water treatment company H2O Innovation Inc, has announced its acquisition of the common and preferred shares of OxyH2O Canada Inc, Bioflo Inc and 3765415 Canada Inc, companies that are specialised in the design and manufacturing of waste water treatment systems. Through this acquisition, the company states that it will acquire the knowledge and additional expertise in the development and operation of competitive systems for wastewater and drinking water treatment markets.
H2O Innovation has also announced that it has earned a CA$654,000 contract for the treatment of used water at the Alger Sheraton Hotel in Algeria.
