It is one of only three laboratories in the country able to offer UKAS calibration on sound level meters and is believed to be the only facility that is also accredited to undertake both microphone and sound calibration at the same time.
Casella CEL temporarily suspended its calibration activities in August last year following changes in personnel. Subsequently Frank Cliff was appointed Laboratory Manager. He comments: “We have worked hard to achieve the new UKAS accreditation, which is based on compliance with the ISO17025 standard, in less than six months.”
An UKAS Certificate of Calibration, which gives direct traceability to National Standards, can only be issued by a laboratory, which has been independently assessed and accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.
