China receives UK help for flood recovery

Over one fifth of China’s population has been affected by the flood; more than 3000 people have died; millions of hectares of crops have been destroyed and there has been extensive damage to infrastructure, including schools, health centres and water supply facilities.

£2 million will go towards the latest UN appeal for funds to provide emergency shelter, food, water and sanitation and essential infrastructure repairs. The remaining £3 million will be held in reserve for contribution to the World Bank rehabilitation credit.
