The organisation – Measuring up to the Environment (MuttE) – led by the Royal Society of Chemistry, plans to stimulate scientific and commercial activity in five sectors of chemical measure, science and technology: isonated electrodes (Oxford University); resonance cavity diode laser absorption (Oxford University); attenuated total reflectance (Cambridge University); surface plasmon resonance (University of East Anglia) and ion mobility spectrometry (UMIST).
MuttE believes that the broad range of technologies and measurements will allow the team to take a more holistic view of the environmental measurement needs and stimulate cross-discipline thinking.
The project intends to deliver several new commercially available sensors with lower levels of detection.
The industrial partners are: Alphasense, Ai Qualitek, BP Amoco, Glaxo Welcome, Windsor Scientific, Shell and Zeneca.
