Cowen following Obama green ideas

Mr Obama has set out to create a number of ‘green collar’ jobs in renewable energy and environmental industries as he attempts to boost his country’s eco-position.

And now Taoiseach Brian Cowen has come up with his own five-year plan to invest in the environment and benefit the economy.

The cabinet recently discussed the plans, which include offering incentives to companies, such as those involved in the development of wind and solar power, for their dedication towards supporting the environment, the Irish Independent reports.

According to the newspaper, Environment Minister John Gormley recently stated: “By embracing the whole green sector, not only will we be creating more jobs, but we will also reduce C02 emissions.”

Barack Obama could potentially get to stay in his own hotel should he visit Ireland as developer Liam Carroll is proposing to name a hotel being built after the president-elect.
