The research was commissioned by the Energy Technology Support Unit, a company run by AEA Technology but working on government contracts.
A landscape architecture firm assessed the visual impact of 14 wind farms in the UK and Ireland and asked whether ‘camouflage’ colour patterns or other colour blends would reduce the turbines’ visibility. The research is reported in the March 2000 edition of Wind Directions magazine, published by the European Wind Energy Association.
