Last week, the Department of Finance and Personnel introduced measures such as rates rebates for homeowners and developers.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, this could include steps such as installing cavity wall and loft insulation.
In addition, homebuyers could be in line for rates exemption for the first five years if they adhere to the government’s zero carbon standards.
“This incentive is aimed a persuading people to buy eco-friendly homes and, therefore, put pressure on developers to improve their standards of building and incorporate the latest eco-friendly devices such as solar heating,” the newspaper said.
